Surviving the End of Your World
Our society is deceptively predictable and stable. What would happen if a catastrophic event, or series of events, triggered a breakdown of the fragile, intertwined systems that support our way of life?
In this photographic project, your goal is to use the image to capture your response to a worst-case scenario, You could approach this from many angles:
--How prepared are you for a disaster? Could you do something, make something, or learn something that would increase your chances of survival?
--A severely stressful event tests our ethics and values and forces us to make hard choices. What is most important to you, and to your survival—what would you take with you, or go back for? What does survival mean to you— which values are you willing to sacrifice when forced to choose? Does the individual prevail over the community, or is the survival of the community important to the individual?
--What role does fear play in survival? What is the value of hope?
Submission:
You should submit your project in a format that challenges the traditional photographic portfolio, preferably in the digital realm. Submission of a series of images meant to be seen in an online or physical gallery is not acceptable.
